8 foot pickup box trailer

8 foot pickup box trailer

PostBy: dtzackus On: Thu Jan 24, 2013 12:02 am

I have a 1978 3/4 ton 8ft pickup box trailer.

I had to get some stone for my dirt driveway today and noticed one of the side markers wasn't working. I took it apart, and it is a sealed unit.

Do I need side/clearance markers on a 8 ft pickup box trailer?

If I do not need them, I was just going to disconnect them, whoever built the trailer added them on. The taillights work for both the parking and brake lights.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

You shouldn't, but, post a pix--hard to really tell what you're talking about.

I think you need working side clearance lights(yellow) in Pa. for every 10 or 12 feet of trailer length.Best to check with a certified Pa. inspection station or look it up on Penndot

I thought the sides only had to be reflectors (not electric light bulbs), im sure it varies by state but on an 8' foot homemade trailer it seems overkill to me.

Here is a picture. Sorry, not the best, already dark and my cell phone's flash isn't the best.

The amber light/side/clearance marker is in front of the pickup box trailer. They go on with the parking lights, but also flash when I put my turn signal on.

They are a sealed unit. I would just replace the lightbulb, but no way of doing that. I'd rather do it simple, but if I do not have to replace them, I won't...
