When my kids were younger I told them about the drills we had when I was in grade school. The nukes are inbound, get under your desk.
We were told to kneel down and face the wall in the hallway of the school and cover ourselves with our coats, I don't recall ever being told exactly what we were hiding from, except that it was an "enemy attack" of some sort. I guess the teachers didn't want to tell us that we could be vaporized by a nuclear bomb. Someone might have figured out that our coats wouldn't help much.
