Alternative to SF-260 hand fired boiler

Alternative to SF-260 hand fired boiler

PostBy: pine grove coal user On: Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:15 pm

I have been considering upgrading from a Harman Mark II to a Harman SF260 boiler.
The one hesitation I have is the solid steel door. I have come to LOVE watching the coal fire and the dancing blue ladies. It is very soothing after a long day.
As far as I know, the SF260 does not have the option of a door with a glass window.
Does anyone know of another manufacturer that sells a mid size, hand fired boiler, with a door that has a glass window?
If there are no other options I'll get the SF260 and cut the door and install my own glass. But I would only do this as a last resort.

  I've thought many times of doing the very same thing. That is cutting a hole in my boilers door and installing a piece of ceramic glass.

I feel your pain!

It is really nice to see that blue haze in there!

Problem with the SF boilers is they aren't the prettiest things, I mean I wouldn't want it in my family room.

You can always sneak a peak, like I do when it's been burning for several hours and I go down to the shop.

You would have to fabricate your own door with ceramic glass...I am not aware of any hand-fired boiler that has that option available.
