I wouldn't say that I'm an evil genius.....

I read some posts about heating the entire house with coal. I moved my harman mk II from my fireplace install into the basement. I moved my expensive oil burner out of the way. As you can see from the pic, I placed the stove under the open duct work. To the left of the stove is the open cold air return. I also have cold outside air coming underneath my front door at the top of the stairs. The stove seems to suck it right up! I initially had a small window fan inside the heating duct work, but it was kind of anemic and only could heat the house to 64 degrees. I since replaced that with a 20 inch box fan running on medium. This brings the entire house (1566 sq ft) to a nice 74 degrees when it is 0 outside.

Note that the picture is of the temporary install for testing purposes. Next move is to make it more permanent. I am going thru about 50 pounds of nut coal per day on the real cold days, less than half of that as the temp goes up. So much better than oil!

What do you guys think??

Yes, but that is just to seal the joints. They are screwed together.
