Manometer questions

I just left mine hooked up. Been there for a few years now. I share a flue with the oil boiler, so I mainly use it at the beginning and end of the season to set the baro damper on the boiler correctly. In the winter I set it in favor of the stove staying around .04". When the stove is disconnected for the summer, I set it back to .02" for the boiler for DHW duty.

Now that makes sense to me Mr. Flash. I know this info is available around here somewhere, I just couldn't find it. I apologize for being redundant. Is there a metal barb available that I could thread into my stove pipe, and cap it off when the manometer tube is disconnected? Don't think I want the meter exposed 24-7 in my main foyer. I'll watch it for a week or 2, then put it away, and hook it up when I need to know the draft. Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

I leave mine hooked up all the time.. Once you get it hooked up and see how handy the new information is, you will probably want to leave it hooked up permanently.. Its especially useful in the spring on warm days, you can watch the draft pressure fall as it gets warmer outside.

Well guys, my stove is only supplemental heat. In a few more weeks, when the temps go above 40* highs, It won't see action till next Nov. As far as leaving the manometer hooked up all the time, the face is so big, there's no where to hide it. Being plastic, if I mount it directly behind the stove, I'm afraid it will melt. In an unfinished cellar installation, mounted away and on a wall, it wouldn't bother me, but not in my living area.
