New England blizzard?

New England blizzard?

PostBy: joeq On: Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:00 pm

OK people, they're scaring us again. Winds of 50MPH, and snow. Hope everyone's stocked up with black gold. Has anyone out west got any up-dates on what we should expect? Seen the previews from the great lakes heading our way, and colliding with a front from the south. Hope we don't lose any power. but if it happens here, no more kerosene heater for me. The Surdiac's been running strong (enuff) for the past week, so we're ready, power or not. And the caveat is maybe my Co. will be out for the day, and give me a 3 day weekend. Good luck people.

Most of the moisture for this storm is coming from down south so what's been happening to the west is not going to be a good indicator of what to expect. Lots of rain down south. Every inch of rain equates roughly to a foot of snow so I'd look for about 2' based on the rainfalls amounts reported.

This. Grew up with snow. The only thing different now is back when I was a kid the media reporting wasn't all about...."ZOMG!!! GET THE F OUT!! IT'S A STORM!! YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS AND CAN'T TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES!! GET BREAD!! GET MILK!!! OH MY GAWD THE SKY IS FALLING!!"

Just more convincing the sheep that they cannot possibly make it without gov. intervention. Occasionally they will make note that the country folk dont need rescuing, just the sheep that move out there in there Volvo's and Subaru's. The locals have enough food, beverages, and deer meat(or moose) for at least a month and probably more.
As to snowfall amounts, get back to me after the storm, that is the only way to measure it.

Kevin

For those out in it plowing, stay safe and enjoy the long hours.

Here it is midnite, and I'm brushing snowdrifts off my temporary garage (tent), to keep it from caving in on my T/A. And of course 3/4ths of the way done, my cheap plastic pool brush has to break off. (gotta love plastic). And I think my Surdiac is possessed. The thermostat keeps going up a few times over the past couple days....on its own. Keep finding the heat exchanger temp approaching 600*, and look at the knob, and see it set up another full number. I've turned it back to normal twice. My girls say they never touch it. Which means, it's doing it on its own

And now I guess the media feels the need to name snowstorms. Don't forget the toilet paper!
