Of course not. If I wrote a book about myself, I would make it say what I wanted it to say, just like he did. Or didn’t – because who actually wrote it? “Chris Kyle (Author), Scott McEwen (Author and “super-patriot”), and Jim DeFelice (Author known for his fiction)”.

Touche, Fred. I know what you’re saying, but I suspended my common sense / intuitive wisdom this time in favor of my cynicism, or realism. We tough guys make our heros – our Army Rangers, our Green Berets, our Navy Seals – then we oooohhh and aaaahhh over them like a bunch of middle-aged women watching Dr. Oz on the Oprah show. Yes it is sad that the guy was shot, but come on, he was no god, just another soldier lucky enough to come home and clever and cynical enough to profit from his experiences with books and shoot-em-up outings for people with $3,000 to burn. He based his career on killing people with guns, in the service and after the service, and he was killed with a gun.

I didn't notice anyone saying he was a god and didn't notice anyone saying he was their hero. He knew he was lucky to come home and tried to help fellow veterans. Who did he kill after the service? Are you trying to say he got what he deserved? Are you saying snipers are bad people?

Ron Paul's take on this incident is not as puzzeling as the headline suggests.

...

I hope the 'rberqs' of the world dont quote him out of context like he did me...

My comment of his Kyles death being " ironic" was because here is a highly trained American soldier with countless successful missions as a sniper... facing death everyday across the world... only to be murdered in his homeland.
it had nothing to do with" living by the sword die by the sword"...
he was home... where he should have been safe... honored and respected.
I wonder ... had he died in a car accident... what people be less cynical???

... he was a true hero

Sorry, Rigar, I didn't intend to distort your meaning. The word stood by itself without explanation, so what to you was the "obvious" interpretation did not come across to me.

As to misquoting Ron Paul, he can speak for himself. As usual he said lots of things that make sense; and as usual he did not follow either the left-wing playbook or the right-wing playbook; and as usual that got him in trouble with both sides. Beware those who think for themselves! :!:

If thinking for yourself means slapping our veterans in the face with comments like that (Paul's), then I'm all set. :x

Ron Paul is a Vet himself and I don't think he was slapping anyone. He was just calling it like he sees it. That's why he'll never be President.
