Must be a MA thing this year Dcrane. I've got hit by 3 of the little *censored* so far.

We can thank the treehuggers for putting a stop to the spray trucks that used to roll through the neighborhood back in the day. I used to ride my bicycle behind the damn truck, with asthma, mind you. Yeah, they were so bad for our health. So I guess suffering the rest of your years with Lyme is better? Idiots!

Is this the new form of population control or what? Never seen a damn deer tick in my life until '09. Since been bitten by 15 of them. :wtf:

I agree Smit, Ive never seen a deer tick until this year (always had those bigger ones around but they were easy to feel, see and spot before getting bit), These lil' deer ticks are another matter... I dont feel them at all and I dont see them at all until its to damb late  I never knew how miserable a tick bite can really be, this one is not nearly as bad as the last one (that one I was willing to chop my freeeking arm off to stop the itching) but this current one still sucks :taz:

and you know I was being vigilent too after being so scetched out by that first bite... and the lil' *censored* still got me behind the knee :fear: Im calling some local authorities to come douse my property in deet or w/e (anyone know who to call in MA?) This is war and its clearly going to be a brutal tick season!

Smitty,

I guess the guberment was listening to you all along, And they finally agree. They need to stop interfering with your life and property. They finally realized its not their place or job to decide to spray your property or not. Now if they could only get out of the rest of our lives.... ;)

They banned DDT, remember?? I can't even spray my own property thanks to those *censored*!! At least not with anything that WORKS ....

I'm not asking the government for ANYTHING Waldo - you should know better. I need them as much as a need a tick IN my ASS.

I heard about that a while back. The first thing that came to mind was ... some lone lefty lab-rat sitting in his basement concocting PETA's dream virus.

Nobody could convince me that this was just a natural thing that came to be. This was unquestionably designed by a human. A bleeding heart one at that. I can guarantee that their rationale for this is, "look how many lives (animals) I've saved"! Then they'll go after cattle ranchers like they did the tobacco industry. Fun times we live in ...

What are you talking about Sam? THEY ALREADY DO!! I live in MA, remember? :|

BTW, Dcrane -how's the tick bites looking now? Mine look worse now than they did a month ago. Looks like these marks will be hanging around for at least a year like last time.

I've been seriously affected by Lyme disease to the point of using a walker for a few weeks as the only way I could navigate. Don't mess with it,it can trigger a hellfire of health issues, some permanent. Even when you think you have it beat down, it might simply be hiding out and will trickle out into your bloodstream and pull off a sneak attack. I love the outdoors and have gone through more antibiotic treatments than you could imagine.

There's more to this story but I'm not going any further with it. Heed this warning: If you spend time outdoors, keep a special set of treated clothing to wear when you're out deer tick territory. Treat this set of clothing with any brand of Permethrin designed for the purpose. Once your done, get out of them and shower asap. The treatment is good for 5-6 washings or 5-6 weeks. I've been out 4 wheeling with a buddy and at the end of the day he'd have a dozen or more crawling or attached to him, not to mention the ones we found in the camper. The number of ticks on me; zero. Needless to say after going through what I've been through, I'm religious about keeping up with this method. Just my 2 cents but for me, it's worth a million :)

Permethrin works for ticks as good as or better than DEET works for skeeters. The Permethrin treatment does just like this video shows.
