Motor for 520

Motor for 520

PostBy: Dave 1234 On: Tue Oct 15, 2013 7:21 am

Good morning all,
My motor on the 520 is getting noisey. I think some place I read about a replacment motor that is needle bearing design.
Does anyone have experience with this? Any motor model numbers to call and order?

Thanks Dave

Make sure the fan isn't loose on the shaft.

I am running a Marathon motor on mine, perfect fit and smooth operation. Item # 4782 from www.marathon-motors.com

Note, the motor is fully enclosed, not open on the face like the one in the picture.

Rob Thanks !
I took the motor and housing off last night. Both the housing bolts and the motor bolts were loose. The fan is tight, she is much quieter now.
The fan is sheet metal, did the old ones use cast iron? Will an old one fit in my housing ?

As far as I know, the fans have always been steel. The newer ones use a different coupling between the fan and the gearbox, but the original design works well and is preferred by many.

I had the same problem one time...changed the motor and put it all together finger tight. Tested fine, and then I forgot to snug the bolts. Next day it was vibrating pretty good, 10 second fix.
