How many times did you hear obama and his flock of parrots say that? Well it was a lie every time they said it and they knew it. I have had Carefirst Health Insurance for many years. We were one of 76,000 families in Maryland, Virginia and DC with Carefirst who got the notice that our policy would no longer be offered. That's just one company in one area. It's estimated that 16 million familes got similar notices from their insurer throughout the country.
And what am I offered to replace it with? A plan that is $400.00 more per month ($4,800.00 more per year) than I pay now AND it has a $6,000.00 deductible. Then they only cover 70%. But it's not all bad. They will cover birth control, prenatal care and artifical insemenation. That should come in real handy as I look forward to my 62nd birthday.
So to deal with 15% of the population who were chronically uninsured, (about 30 milllion) half of whom choose not to buy insurance although they can afford to do so, the democrats have to decided to mess with everyones insurance. Way more people have been notified they are losing their insurance than have signed up for obamacare.
In addition to promising that you can keep your plan and your doctor if you like them, we were also told it would be about $2,500.00 less per year on average. Off by about $7,300.00 in my case. And no, we have no pre-existing conditons.
Let's not even get into the fact that the website that the gov't had 3 years to launch and have spent $634 million on to date is a disaster. I've heard very credible estimates that this website could have been done in half the time for about $20 million. Gives you a lot of confidence that a govt. that lied about the plan and can't even get a website off the ground is going to be competent enough to manage obamacare. We are so screwed.
Even my wife who I love very much but has been a liberal dem her whole life is now pissed. I know it's a small example but I think it may be a trend. If the stupid party (yes the republicans) can just find a candidate who has broader appeal than McCain, Romney, (name the loser candidate that we've seen in the last few elections), the next election should be ours. Even more important the mid terms are a chance to gain ground in congress. Otherwise I think we will be too far down the drain to come back up. It's a very sad state of affairs.
