When i removed the exhaust motor it had soft, rubbery-type sealant both outside (black) and inside (red). I found supply from previous owner of Rutland "Seal It Right" (black) which I figure is for the outside seal. Correct? But cannot ascertain what was used for inside seal. ?? Also, not exactly sure how I would even get inside to add that inner seal yet. Advice on technique is appreciated? i.e. Am I going to have to disconnect vent pipe from bottom, and unhook top direct vent which feeds into my home duct work, and pull stove out to get inside to apply the inner sealant?
Attached pics are of the exhaust motor to direct vent exhaust pipe and the rubbery-type material I had pulled out from inside when removed the motor.
I confess to being a newbie and apologize in advance for any bad protocol on this forum. I learn quickly however so please don't be shy telling me.
While extremely nervous about screwing something up, I'm eager and interested in learning all I can. I haven't been able to find any reputable local service help, person, company ANYWHERE nearby. I would not mind paying for expertise to learn but so far no luck. If anyone has leads in Dutchess County, NY area, please pass on!!
Qs: What type of sealant do I need to use for inside seal?
And, expert advice on technique of how the heck I am supposed to apply the inner sealant? Will I have to remove the band clamp fastening the 4-inch steel vent pipe to the black 6-inch DV exhaust pipe, move the stove out, and then apply?
If other pics would be helpful, I can add.
Many thanks in advance!!
Greetings all, I'm seeking advice and expertise on putting my parts back together after cleaning. I'm new homeowner with a previously installed Keystoker 90/105 direct vent stove. I believe well taken care of, but trying to do my due diligence for good cleaning prior to this season. Taking it one thing at a time. First, was removing the exhaust motor to clean/vacuum it out (had lots to get rid of so glad I did!).
