Wow, I have not been logged in here for a very long time! This is my 4th season burning coal and every other year I have started her up in mid-October. This year I was more practical and waited until it actually got cold-- into the upper teens tonight with 40+ mph winds so in anticipation I fired up the beast last night. She is purring along with the primary air barely open a crack. Stove temp is at 400 with exhaust at the damper around 150. House is comfortable and coal consumption is low. Happy burning!
Good to hear from you. I was wondering where you'd been off to... Hope your Glenwood is doing you right. I just fired mine up about a week ago myself. I was being lazy, and the weather here was so up and down I just didn't bother lighting her up. Now that she's back up and running, the family is quite happy. My younger daughter is bent on learning how to use the stove and tells me now it's "her" stove, so I should get used to it... LOL
