Cold Snap in Upstate NY

Cold Snap in Upstate NY

PostBy: rampage84 On: Sun Nov 24, 2013 9:13 pm

I guess this is the start of winter now. We have an old Glenwood Parlor stove in the living room and I fired it up for the first time this season. There isn't anything nicer than sitting next to a warm coal stove on a night like tonight, having a beer and watching the Turtle Man show on Animal Planet.
Have a Merry Christmas all.

8" Fred? You keep that white stuff over yonder please. Cool here last night but no snow yet. Fired the AA up Friday night after getting my LP delivery Thursday.

Aaaahhhh...nice, warm, consistent coal heat for cheap. Gotta love it!

Funny I was doing the same exact thing on Sunday :) Watching call of the Wildman and firing up the coal bed for the first time this season. It was in the 20s down here on Long Island and I decided it was time to switch over from wood to coal. Broke the stove down cleaned her up, added another layer of some nice new firebrick for a deeper bed...life is good :)

Well it is rainy, windy, and now warm :( I had to throttle back the stove this morning. It was 88 degrees in the living room this morning. Stove was idling nicely @ 275f. Now I heard it is going to get cold again tonight after the wind and rain push through. Weather is wacky this time of year on the Island.
