Replacing Roller Grates

Replacing Roller Grates

Just looking for any advice or what I might find when replacing roller grates, specifically in a Van Wert Simplex Multitherm. (I think those are called roller grates.) It's the first one that is broken, with the shaft that connects to the shaker handle. Actually the square end on the shaft is broken off. The previous owner let it get way too loose and it wore the shaft so much I wasn't able to tighten it. The other day a rock must have snuck in there and without any warning it just snapped off. Most of the grates look like they just lay in there, but I'm a little worried since this is the first one with the shaft going to the outside of the boiler it will be a little trickier. Does anyone know about how long this will take, and what all if anything I'm going to have to tear apart?
