Almost ready to cut the cord

I have been using Winegard antennas because they are made in USA, but that unit you got seems to have very good reviews. If it works for you, get it on a more permanate mount and enjoy.

Yeah I need to get it on the roof. I know I'll get more channels too. This was more of an experiment for me. I will buy a better antenna in the future. It'll be paid for in less than three months too. All we had was basic cable and with taxes it was 26+ bucks per month. Now we get a better picture for free. I do want to get a Tivo in the future. I've been watching eBay.

The used ones with lifetime subscriptions are a good deal, but make sure the seller is the owner of the subscription...they will need to call Tivo and have it transferred.

Hey Rob, I was wondering how many channels you get on your HD antenna and how far away is your furthest one. I live on the outskirts of Olean, NY.. Is there anywhere I can look to see if I can get any channels and how many?

Grumpy beat me to it....tvfool is the site I usually use. http://www.antennaweb.org/ is another.

I get about 10 channels, but some are groups broadcast from the same tower. I think I am about 40 miles away from the towers, but I am fortunate to have line-of-site with the towers and get a very good signal. I moved my antenna in the attic over the garage to protect it from the wind.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the map. Looks like I could get 5 channels, maybe a few more under the right conditions.

Another home converted to over-the-air broadcasting. I took my mom and dad's satellite dish down and put a RCA ANT751 antenna in its place. Used the existing cable that the satellite guys installed, just had to remove/reconfigure two splitters.

They get 12 channels with a 95-100% signal level, even better than my house.

$50 for the antenna, about 1 hour to install. $70 per month savings.

Our 5meg internet cost about $37.95 , if i drop the tv channels ($57.95)the internet goes up in price through the roof. I can't get dsl even here. Sick of seeing the bill go up every year. We have a Roku and Netflix so seeing movies and yesterdays tv programs are no problem, i just am not paying $50-60 for semi slow internet.

do you have Adams cable ?? we have Adams and have the house phone and internet with them no long distance on there phone service,
