I know I've communicated with some folks over the years about homebrew ash removal systems. I'm looking for documentation on those as well as maybe some photos and descriptions of setups I haven't seen yet. If you have done something for easy ash removal, I invite you to document what you've done along these lines. Photos and descriptions would be great!

'Easy' is a relative term.........Rigid and flex augers...... Glad you did not say 'easy AND inexpensive', I'll post more tomorrow.

trial 2 seems to be working just fine, would like to try this winter to re-pipe auger using 3" pvc conduit sweep to try and shorten up the ash barrel towards the boiler[more room to get snow blower out door]so far this year I burned 5-55 gallon barrels and got 1 barrel of ash[seems to grind up ash] and the timer to delay the off after ash auger stops doesn't seem to be needed [may also pull out at later time] just installed at end of last season[still a guinea pig ]

If anyone reads this and still is in the early planning stage, you might concider to embed your auger pipe into the floor for less obstruction for all daily movement around boiler.

ash auger had a bad day . found pvc end part on top of barrel ground up/smashed. pipe strap support wrapped in auger. after further investigation found shaker motor running but arm wasn't moving. thought their was a broken connecting pin. but turns out that the hitch pin was missing. this would describe the hitch pin I found layen on the floor a few weeks ago . guess what happen, ash auger runs when shaker does then a few extra seconds on a delay timer, how many hours did it run don't know. but now switched off delay timer to one shot position so it will only run for set time each shake cycle. also switched to sch 80 pvc on end
