Good Morning fellow black rock addicts. I got up this morning and the outside temp was 57 degrees in the heart of the Pa. southern coal region. I logged into the board and it was full with projects and questions telling me that it's almost time to fire up!!!! I have to get cracking and get my new to me VC 2310 back together and test fire it. Been a while since I burned a hand fired but it's like a bicycle. It will come back to me after a couple of mistakes and some minor puff backs to remind me of what I forgot.

Looking forward to a slow low burn with that wonderful penetrating heat. The cat has never left his corner where the old LL stoker sat. We put a heating pad on low down in his corner covered with a pad to keep his 18 year old bones cooking. He is patiently waiting for the stove to come back. I will start on Monday and take my time putting the stove together. I have a ton of bagged nut under tarp and the plywood to make a basement bin that I will fill using bucket loads from Keystone Anthracite in Girardville Pa.

Happy projects to everyone and be careful out there!

57* here this a/m too, tomorrow a/m is forecast to be 53*, what a beautiful break from the HHH weather we were having. You are going to bucket your coal into the bin & then bucket it out of the bin ?? If that is the case then why not collect more buckets & just stack them. Fill them, carry to storage area, stack them, when needed carry to stove & load in stove. Have fun getting your new stove together & the operating curve perfected. :)

51* here at 6 a/m & we went to bed with all the windows open,it is 66 * in the house. Not typical for July weather but the forecast has temps heading up again so I guess winter is not here yet. How cold is it up there in Girardville & upstate N.Y. ?

I remember being a counselor at a christian camp and needing a blanket at night in the cabins and sweating during the day. That was the end of July and the first week of August. This is just a little slip in the temps to remind you that you have about 8 weeks before you need to consider a lite up time!!! Will it be the first of October or by Halloween?

You better swing into action soon, or you will be smelling wood smoke for another winter.

50 here this morning. From what yesterday's weather reports made it sound like, I expected it to be colder.

Windyhill,

I hope you get a coal burn'in boiler soon. If not, I may be forced to drag one of my craigs list finds over to your place.

Rev. Larry,

80 degrees down here at the Mason Dixon line today, BEAUTIFUL! If only I could figure out how to make a coal fired air conditioner! Then I could burn all year.

All I know is that it was cold enough to see my breath this morning...Thought I slept in 'till September! Had seen Water Spouts over Lake Erie when we were Fishing along the Canadian Border last week....Interesting times! :gee:
