C'mon Wolverines.....where ya at?.
I talked with a local grain elevator to see about bringing some bulk coal back this way from a trip out Pennsylvania way but the guy I needed to talk to wasn't in. I'll keep digging.

I sent an e-mail to a farm hauling company that says they make runs from Michigan to Penny to drop off grains for an ethanol plant. MAYBE they can be coaxed into bringing back some coal. Their site says they haul many different materials besides grains.

Call the mine of your choice, they should have a trucking outfit that can fit your needs. The trucker will deal with a broker for a backhaul more than likely.

I asked a mine (don't recall which but it was one of the big two or three) and they said they DO NOT get involved in any way as far as shipping coal. I just figured that was the norm and didn't contact other mines. I will do that.coaledsweat wrote:Call the mine of your choice, they should have a trucking outfit that can fit your needs. I did get a response. The company I contacted wants me to call them...so if I have time tomorrow, I will do that and report back.

If you are shopping for a 22+ ton load, contact Lehigh Anthracite. A few members have reported that their salesman was very helpful in arranging trucking.

Ended up getting 6 tons of stove coal from J&J Log Homes out of Jonesville Mi. He delivered it for a small fee.
I will keep pursuing bulk but I needed to get this years coal on hand for peace of mind.

If you have $5300 and a place to store the coal, that is the way to do it.Pancho wrote:I got a quote of $5300 for 26 tons of bulk stove coal delivered from Pa to my place here in Michigan. $203/ton verses $281/ton bagged.
