Dislaimer: Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it is a sort of heating unit, so I'm placing this here. Mods are free to move as appropriate....

I've got the urge to give this simple back yard cook stove made out of a total of 21 bricks a whirl, but I've heard that cinder blocks can explode when heated. Watch the attached video (which appears to use the potentially explosive generic solid cinder blocks), and then tell me what kind of bricks would be best to use for a safe rendition of this stove concept, and where I might find them. The guy claims the bricks he used cost him only $10, so I believe that leaves firebricks out, but who is to believe $10 anyway?

Those appear to be concrete bricks. You should be able to buy firebricks at a brickyard for about $2-2.50 each.

Cheap masonry brick could work...just cook them slowly for some time and then the moisture will leave slowly instead of abruptly.

I should think a few days atop the ole AHS should get the parched. ;)
