My preferred supplier (Green Valley Coal, 5 miles up the road) has gone to pot and will not be selling house coal this year. I am getting worried about sourcing fuel and recently had to take a massive pay cut. I have 4 kids so paying as much for delivery as for coal is something I'd like to avoid.

I need 8 ton or so delivered to 25972. Anyone out there have any leads?

Been reported here that Cobra Mining, Barton, MD has some decent bit coal there. :)

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into it. Hopefully, I can find something closer. At this point, I don't care if I'm burning hard or soft coal, though I like the lower price of bit.

If you have the space consider a tractor trailer load. It''s going to be more up front but in the long run probably cheaper than what you were paying before.

Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere a trailer by itself could get into. I live on a mountain with a very tight, narrow road and my driveway is even smaller.

There is a older post from forum member hman I will paste it for you.

" Went Sat. morning got my 1st load of coal.I picked up my coal from Big Sandy Stone & Pipe,Louisa,Kentucky.Phone #1-606-686-3000.Hours are from 8-5 Mon.-Fri. 8-2on Sat.Their price on coal is 110.00 a ton.+ tax. Don't know how long it will stay at that price so many of the mines are being shut down.
I hand picked my coal and got 2,760lb.
SM&J were I have been going is up too 125.00 a ton. They are not open on Saturday's yet. Will be 1st of Nov."

You might check out craigslist I seem to recall a ad for coal in the Charleston WV area.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I'm waiting to talk to Greenbrier Smokeless in Anjean. They claim they'll be selling house coal this year for $120/ton but I don't know size, specs, or when pickup time is.

If anyone else has suggestions, please feel free to add them here.
