Axeman 130 Motor Spec
Hello Axeman,
My 1951 130 has been happy clinking away, but the motor is sounding
a bit rough and I would like to get a spare. I figure if I have as spare
on the shelf this one will last for ever. My present one does not have a tag
and in all my Axeman stuff I can't seem to find a specifications for it, horse
power and rpm.
Thanks,
Frank

Most motors have a frame number this will help assure the shaft is the correct size and the mounting holes will be the same.
This is the chart on page two if you want.
**Broken Link(s) Removed**This pertains to the motor mounting and shaft but has little to do with Horse Power, and shaft speed.

Hey Frank, I remember when you first got that AA130 up and running you were worried it was undersized. Did you ever make any changes and seen an increase in performance?

Or.... Just phone Axeman Anderson & order one. It might be a few extra dollars (it might not), but in these times I try to give patronage to the companies that make our coal devices. They aren't the largest companies on Earth & every sale helps keep them in business.
You can just take the motor and support frame to a motor shop or a supplier like Grainger. They will match it up. I had bad luck with the stock motor on my 1980 AA130. After replacing the second one I used a 1/3 hp Magnatek and have not burned a winding yet.
Get the 1/3 hp.

Axeman now sells a separate, smaller motor to drive the auger and asher, while the original motor drives only the fan. I was down Williamsport last week and Pete showed me the setup. Call 570-326-9114 for details.

That's the setup on my 260. But I have a big hunking gear motor driving the auger/asher. That is the part I had an issue with a few years ago right about this time of the year too. Gearmotor went out December 23rd. But thanks to some big guy who bought his own coal burning company (Matthaus) I now have a backup if needed.mozz wrote:Axeman now sells a separate, smaller motor to drive the auger and asher, while the original motor drives only the fan. AA has not been able to source the gearbox for a long time, so if you want a replacement from them, or on a new unit, you get an electric gear-reduction motor; adapter plate; wiring for the new setup. The twisted belt is no more, and the only thing the old drive motor powers is the fan assembly. It is a quick and easy replacement, and all other features remain the same. Call the factory for pricing. Plan on spoiling 650.00 tiddlywinks. Sweet setup...... PS: Grainger is quite a bit more than Factory......

If you buy something local, make damn sure it is a capacitor start motor.
