They don't account for the different volumes over sizes. Rice takes up more space than nut.

This is a 5 ton load of buckwheat.
  • If it weas rice it would be a little higher.
  • If it was barley you could barely get enough on there.
  • If it was nut then it would just be about level with the sides
  • If it was stove then you wouldn't even see it.
