Agel coal, yes I have bought 50 lb bags of rice for $5 at the end of last year because my 3 ton ran out, needed heat for a few days, bought 10 used 5. This year was going to get coal from Lake Ariel Bitenbraders( spelling?) again but I paid $190 a ton delivered last year. He drives out to Mahanoy city and gets it straight from the breaker. Sure he is higher this year. Went down to talk to the lady at Agel and it was $170 ton bulk delivered to here which is over 25 miles away. You might get cheaper if you are within 10-15 miles. The few bags which I did burn in my Leisure Line was fine, no problems. They are no frills bags, just sewn shut and the word rice written on with black marker. 50 lb bags too, not 40 such as Blashak and others. The bags probably have gone up too. I got 4 ton delivered and it looks fine, maybe some fines mixed in but pretty consistent looking. Won't know how it burns until Oct-Nov but I am not worried. Aug 1 comes soon, from what I hear that is when the yearly price increase takes effect.

Do you know what breaker Agel gets their coal from? And is $170 a ton for bagged? Do you know what they get for bulk?

They get it from Hudson or at least they were a few years ago. Don't know about now.

mozz...did ya see any differences between Agel and Wittenbrader coal last year?
Agel from what I understand consistently runs less expensive than Wittenbrader. My last load from Wittenbrader (Feb 08) was over $200/ton. I have never heard any complaints of Agel's coal but I hate to drop loyalty to someone who has provided me with good service and good coal. Also Mr. W. told me his coal is Blaschak has anyone heard different?

I haven't really burned Agel only 5 bags last year so I can't say. Wittenbrader I was told drives out to Mahanoy city right to the breaker to get what you ordered. So I doubt it is Blashak. I did bring some coal into work from Wit and the guys that have been burning coal for 30 years said it looked real nice, that was compared to Kassa if thats saying anything.

thanks mozz. I'm thinking about sharing the wealth here. Maybe one load from Mr. W. and then a load from Agel. See how things go.

Ive heard good things about the quality but, everytime I call, they quote me a different price. $5 a bag, then $5.50, then $6, now $6.50! I understand that prices go up, but every week? The thing that bothers me is the lying! They said this has been the price all year, $6.50 a bag. I buy from Hudson now.
