You are not gonna believe this!
In June, they replaced the meter with one they could read from the street, so they say.
I'm sitting here on the PC, looking out the window, and a guy on a pogo stick with wheels goes in my neighbors driveway. 30 seconds later, he's crossing my lawn, heading for the meter. Before I could get outside, he's going down the street to the next house. This guy is gonna freeze his azz off in January.
Times are bad when PSNH has to give up the pick-up truck with a flashing yellow light, for a SEDGEWAY.

Folks, I live in the country, not in town.
Cheers

We have had the remote read meter for a couple years. The Sedgeway has not returned. I guess that 'feature' did not work out in N.H.
Cheers

We've had the remote readers here for a few years. The water meter signal piggy-backs onto the electric meter signal.

The way the system is now, no one has to come around anymore. All the signals within the village are read from a receiver in village hall.

There is a NH state statute that says, "A smart meter can not be installed with out the home owners written permission." Smart meters are a Very touchy subject. Go dig for information for yourself with an open mind. These are not as perfect as one might think. A lot of people are repeating what they have been told, without a hint of formal education in the area that they are talking about. They proudly and firmly state that they have been to a training seminar but do not know what ohms law is. Pennsylvania had the biggest problems. The two areas of concern are 1) these meters can and have started houses on fire. they are made of plastic. the old analog meters were all metal and glass.
2) the rf frequency has the possible potential of causing health problems in many areas major/minor with some people.
Do the research for yourself, to create your own opinion. And keep searching , there is a lot of info out there on this. Funny how none of this makes the news.

Mine just showed up on the house one day, with out any prior or post notice. And this was after the statute was in effect. When I asked for verification of when they installed it, she said , sure I will look that right up for you, then , oh,... ahh, we do not have a record of that installation.
