Does this unit have an ash auger installed? If so, what is inside the base to direct the ash to the auger?

The boilers come with an "ash drawer." I left the drawer in and installed a custom funnel/grate in it. Could you see the auger coming out of the boiler? I really should have taken a few pics before I installed it. It is buried pretty good and I hope to only remove it once a year for spring cleaning of the boiler.

looks great! A couple more weeks and you will need it running to chase the cold out.

You're missing the easy chair and small fridge containing the beverages to enjoy while watching the boiler!?

Is the coal auger (& ash auger) manual or do you have some sort of sensor triggering it?

Here are a few shots of the finished project...
We just got up and running a little over a week ago and have it pretty fine tuned already, feels good to have this project done and these bills behind us.. spent quite a bit more than we first planned...
If we were to redo it, we would put a leanto against the container and use the skidloader to fill it every week or two.. would be a lot less money than the bin, but we are very happy with the setup so far.. the only thing we aren't cracked over is the auger for ash removal. It works... but not a cadillac.
In the beginning we were planning to put in an lp genset... we sold that one and bought a diesel one.

Looks good,Nice set up with the boiler & genset in the same container like that. You still didn't put your location in your profile,i looked to the right to see where you are located...guess I will have to hunt back thru to find it. Enjoy you coal heating/work reducing system this winter,we sure have enjoyed the last month + 5 days since we fired ours.

Nice Installation.
One question, in photo #4 the greenish thing in the middle of the photo is that the generator? See attached photo.
If so I was wondering if you hooked it's cooling system into the heating system to keep it up to temperature, to minimize wear and tear on it when it fires up?
I have piped numerous back up generators into a buildings heating system to keep them up to operating temp for instant starts.
Dan.

Looking Good JL!! Enjoy the warmth.

Are you planning on insulating the enclosure?

I was wondering about the efficiency if the boiler isn't insulated as well as heat loss from the piping if the building wasn't insulated.

Dan,
Yes that is the generator.... it has an electric block heater on it. I never thought of that idea of running heat from the boiler through it. ;) Neat idea! do you need a heat ex-changer for that???
