The fire worked perfectly due to the information I took from your forum.
The temps are between 10 and 15*C (50-59*F) but according to the weather forecast tomorrow will fall to 8*C. 8-)

Here are some photos of the coal, the fire and the ash.
(the ash is so thin that it falls to the ash pan without any poke! just with the above coal weight!)

Aristi! The ash looks perfect and the fire looks good. Is there good support under the porch for the weight of the coal? :flex:

George, nice tosee you got the coal.
Luckely you got the "Ibbenburen" coal it's considered the finest coal of the world.
It looks you have the Nut 3 size, 20 - 30 mm.
Very nice coal to burn easy in use in my experience.

Have fun and stay warm
Peter.

I like that picture of the fire from above because it shows the burn pattern of the Godin which is from front to back until the coal level is above that front grate. Important to fill above that point. Ash pan is small so be sure to keep ash from reaching the grate which can damage it if ash reaches that level and burn temperature is high.

Yes George I read that to, point is the mine is very deep, aprox 800 meters, and it is too expensive to dug the coal.
So the german government subsidizes the coal mine, they do that for years for strategic reasons.
Well a few years back they changed there mind, considering it's too expensive and no need for it.
But after the japanese nuclear disaster, they want get rid of the nuclear powerplants and it look like they want to keep the mine open.
Only wheater change faster then politics.
