Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe :dancing:
A great great song ... a song not in the style of most of their other songs IMO..wonder if Pink Floyd had an influence on this song...its a solid hit

Of course Tom did make another hit ... Life is a highway .. outside of red rider ... his only big hit outside red rider IMO

Terry Jacks:

Hues Corporation:

But my Favorite Edwyn Collins "Never Met a Girl Like You" The fact that he sounds so similar to David Bowie probably didn't earn him a lot of fans.

Hues had more than just rock the boat .... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hues_Corporation

And Collins' girl before was not a great hit, although a good song.

That was only Jack's hit in the USA .. he had others in the UK ...

FWIW...

Earlier today (Oct. 25), a message on Bruce’s website was posted that read, “It is with great sadness that we, Jack’s family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts.” The Guardian says that liver disease was the cause of death.

Well, Whip It was pretty much the only song that got airplay back in those days. I remember seeing the Coal Mine remake on MTV at one point WAY back .... I had totally forgotten about that until you posted! Many, many beers ago ... :D

Did you mention Cruel Summer by Bananarama. When this video was made $1 48 was an outrageous price for gas!!! Also Like the U model Mack!!!

Who used to cut school, get high and watch MTV???

Reminds me of the only blond hair blue eyed girl I ever liked, my next door neighbor, Eileen J.

I remember most of the songs mentioned, solo performers that came out of groups (like Genesis & Phil Collins) and had good hits out of their solo careers.
(Police & Sting , another) .. so I would count them as separate artistic persons. Used google to cite of course

Bananarama? Lots of hits !

venus

The rock girl bands of the 80's .... so many so many Go-Gos etc....

I like the goofy jap girl bands of today ...
