73* yesterday and 77* today, broke the highest temp for this date by 2*...previous record was standing for 100+ years.
A lot of the time we have the windows open to enjoy the fall air.
By weeks end it is to be much cooler with some snow flurries for a couple days.
If the extended weather looks to stay cold then this week end could be the time for the match.

All this optimism towards cold weather cracks me up. It's very rare that, in the past, anyone I knew was welcoming in the winter weather. But all of us new to coal burning, (and this site) are treating the event, the same way I felt years ago, when I bought my 1st 73 Trans Am. It's as if the car was sitting in my driveway, I had the keys in my hand, but am not able to start it until,....the cold weather hits.
(And this is with a Surdiac. I can't imagine how excited I'll be, when I finally acquire a real stove.)

I've been up & running since October 28th ........... 2013!
I had a small electrical problem in the control box over the summer that let the boiler go cold a few times, but for the most part she's been going non-stop. Jim D. set me up REAL good here.

I've got another week to go before I light the match. The weather guys are calling for the mid 60s around here all week. It will be dropping to the mid 40 over night but we'll use the natural gas to take the chill off. It's either that or light the stove and open the windows. I'll save the black rocks for when it really gets cold. Lisa
