Post by lamina1982 » Fri. Nov. 21, 2014 3:36 am

Im already running a keystoker 90 in the house and loving it...almost 2 months now.
Ihave a single car garage I use for skull taxidermy that I need to keep temps at least above freezing...maybe only 300 sq ft.
What wld b my best coal option...something that will go long between needing attended and prob b ok without electric but not a must. Thanks

A jotul 507 is small as are Godins but by the time you build a chimney I don't think coal will be worth it here. Can you insulate bettera

If you want a small stoker, look for one of the old Tri-Burner stoves. They made a model like the one for sale here; **Broken Link(S) Removed** for $300. You can find these in the $100 to $300 range.

Tri-Burner also made what looked like a cylinder stove. The footprint was smaller, being more vertical than horizontal. These Tri-Burners were 20,000BTU or 30,000BTU, plenty to heat a 1 car garage I would think.

The only thing to worry about is what chemicals are stored in that garage.

If there is any flammable items in there, a coal stove or any flammable heating device is a big no-no.
