Not much else to say about the Kimmels except that after adjusting my stove/baro settings for the coal I'm getting excellent burn times as good if not better then the Blaschak. Not as much unburnt coal in the ash pan as the sizing is better so I don't get a lot of small stuff falling through the grates as I do with the Blaschak. Nothing unusual about the amount of ash or stack temps. Bottom line is I'll buy more if my store is still stocking it & the price is the same.

Yesterday morning at 9:00 I shook and loaded approx 20 lbs, ran for 23 hours and it could have gone longer but I like to stay on schedule and did the same. 40's and 30's overnight and house at 76*...good times!
2 ton on the porch and moving some down stairs, must make room for the next order!
When I built the porch the wife asked, "how big are you making it?" I said, big enough to hold 8 ton and a cooler

OMG MA, looks like a coal shortage to me. I got a TT load (23 tons for the uninitiated) from LCN earlier this year that should last 3 years (I hope). Now I am on their mailing list and they want to drop their prices by $10 a ton if I want another load. To all those coal wannabes that are worried about a coal shortage I have a message...... Plenty for everyone, burn away... Chinas cutting back and we need to keep people employed. :D Sometimes TSC is slow to identify any market, nothing new here. Keep buying and eventually even they will get it.

Here is my spring "shortage" unloading.

That's quite a pile of coal & some impressive cement blocks. Do you have another bin in the basement that you load by hand or do you have a backhoe??

Eventually it has to get into a hopper somewhere, somehow. So I have about 200 Homer buckets at just over $2 a time, collected over the years. I try to load about 10-15 buckets a day in the fall and that is easy for an old fart. I store in the house basement and then I am ready for the nasties. A backhoe will just be more maintenance. Been there, done that. So I am ultra prepared and so naturally the weather is 72*.
