I find that the water soluble furnace cement, when it gets wet it turns to mush. I used it on a furnace and water dripped on it and it turned to mush and run down over my new paint job.
A friend put some on a piece of metal and heated it up then let it set for I guess a week as a test. I said get it wet and see what happens.
It started to get slimey then he just looked at me.
