It doesn't work lightning, once put in it just kills the fire, I have to leave the ash pan door open for hours sometimes, you would be amazed at how many fines are in these bags, there old and in assuming have been handled many times, right now I am taking the bigger pieces out and mixing with nut 50/50 and it is working good to burn the stuff up, as you know I have no problem with my heat output with nut and pea, I don't need the stove size, but came across it at a good deal so I'll make it burn. My father in law was trying to burn it in his bi-metallic controlled saey Hannover and it wouldn't even keep up with it. He thought it was just bad coal but I'm thinking there's just too many fines and he was just dumping it all in. I honestly haven't tried just straight dumping it in 100% stove coal because I know I would run into issues with the fines.

Oh I've been there ....

After dumping a fire because the grates jammed with ROCKS  ... I was up till 02:30 trying to get the fire to stay lit, thanks to the fines & rice in my bags of nut. I always had varying sizing in all brands of coal. It's a long drive from PA to MA, and they probably have to cross the G.W. Bridge .... and we all know how well NY takes care of their roads with all that money extorted from the subjects of NYC ...

I don't miss the hand-fired thing ONE bit ...
