Thanx guys, The reason I was asking was the counting the # of strokes per one revolution( quarter revolution actually) .You can get a 1/4 rev count using the flat faces on the end of the shaft. That way I don't have to turn the thing off to get a reading.

i sometimes do the quarter-rev, but it's so darn hypnotizing to just stare at it while the ratchet is clicking, slide, clicking, slide, clicking, sleepy, clicking, sleepy, clicking, sleeepy, sleepy, sleepy....

I rest a finger on the check pawl too. I have not run above 4 teeth yet, 4 in the winter, 3 in the summer.
