I wasn't aware that the hand fed Hitzer's had secondary air on them. How does the air get introduced? I can only suspect through slider on ash pan door, then up behind the door and act as an air wash? Not just more air under the coal bed?

Sorry! I said something, and afterwards realized someone else already said what I did. So I erased my reply. Too bad we don't have a button for erasing reply completely, within a short period of time. 50-93 = no over fire air. Would it benefit from over fire air while burning anthracite? I don't know. I do know that no over fire air is a benefit for maintaining air through coal bed early fall, and late spring, for low, low fires. I'm curious myself to know if 354 has over fire air. For burning bit & wood, I'd want over fire air. OliverSmart_Ash wrote:Yes please tell! I didn't think the 50-93 had over fire air. Would this stove benefit from over fire air when burning anthracite?

It looks as though the 354 has over fire air.

Hi ASea, The 354 "LOOKS" like it has over fire air? Or, are you saying you know for a fact it has over fire air. Personally, I don't see over fire air. Yet, the literature says it burns multiple fuels.ASea wrote:It looks as though the 354 has over fire air.

The know above the door on the 354 looks like a damper adjustment. In the interest of full disclosure I have no clue I was just speculating because you need over fire air to burn bit so I imagine it would work for wood. Just speculating. When I am ready I will call Riverside Coal or Hitzer or both.
