I just pulled the paddle. Everything looked pretty clean. But I cleaned everything really good to be sure and greased it again it's still making the same sound. I don't think it's anything restricting the paddle. But again I'm no expert

You don't have to be a expert you are doing good!

Does it make the noise with no coal in the bin?

If so its bad and needs replaced, fairly easy to do

Yeah it's really loud I could hear it in my upstairs bedroom from the basement on a two story house. Do you know what the piece is called that I took the pic of?

I've got another question for you guys and gals? I plan on redoing the duct work to my stove this summer. I would like to move my stove closer to the main trunk hot side thinking it would be more efficient. Is there a max distance you can run stove piping to your power venter? It wouldn't be a mile but it would have to be a little further away than it is now. Thanks for any input.

I can't comment on the power vent I don't have any hands on experience with them.

How did you make out with the original problem??? Is that solved????

I'm only burning 1 grate ( 1 STOKER SIDE ) BURNS TOO MUCH COAL WITH BOTH GOING AT ONCE, FIGURE WHAT YOUR SETTUING IS AND IT'S DOUBLE THE RATE.
How many square ft are you heating with the one burner ?

When the temp drops into the teens here my 140 has trouble keeping my 4000 sq ft toasty running just one burner.

I run both burners for most of the season at real low idle and didnt really notice any difference in coal consumption. I looked at it this way .... If 1 burner was keeping the house comfortable with 2" of fire or 2 burners kept it comfortable with pushing 1 inch of fire each did I use more coal or did I create a longer more even burn ? ............ Actually I don't really know.

The pics show my current settings with 2 burners

??? I see a Honeywell device near mid-top of pic ... whats dat? I have one on an electric heater I have no idea what it does [not that I use it -- for basement I do not heat]

Shoot me a pm .. I doubt I'll be back to this thread as I don't have a stoker.

OP has some issues to sort out, seems like he came to the right place.

@Doby. Yeah I called Alaska and they told me to call the dealer. I called the dealer and they said that they didnt know and needed to call Alaska, go figure 8-) . I sent them pictures they sent them to Alaska, Alaska told them to tell me a couple different points to oil and the sound went right away. I really wish I could deal with Alaska directly they seem to be very helpfull and knowlegable but they always want me to go threw the dealer I baught the stove threw.

Any chance you could post a pic of what you oiled or a good explanation? This could help us helpothers with future problems here

I bought one of my stoves at the bloomsburg show room where the factory is,any time I need parts for anyone I call them then go over, no problem, I guess when your from the area its ok otherwise they want the dealer to have the business.

this is what was making the skreching noise. they told me put a couple of drops in the top center. And a couple around the bottom of the circular part. I did that and the noise stopped.
