Goosebump-Inducing F/A18C Soundbarrier-Bustin' Flyby
Great video!
The best "airshow" I ever saw was one time on a night time chunking trip. Just two of us on a twin diesel sport fisherman about four hours out. We could see lights from about a dozen other boats scattered around, the closest was maybe 2-3 miles away. Around eleven pm the planes showed up. A lot of planes, off an aircraft carrier we heard was about 100 miles from us. Everywhere you looked you saw the nav lights, thicker than fireflies on a summer night. For nearly two hours they stayed over us, apparently using the boats as mock targets. You could see a plane making the approach, diving right at us, then when they were about 100 feet directly above our boat they hit the afterburner and got out of Dodge. Our boat weighed over 13 tons, yet that awesome power would literally shake the boat in the water. It was an incredible sight and we didn't even have a camera on board. Being that close and fully exposed we felt totally intimidated, and just hoped no one got confused & pushed the wrong button. It almost made you feel sorry for the poor terrorist that found himself being the real target of these beasts. Almost.
Another time 3 or 4 of us were on a shark trip. Bright sunny & clear day, you could see for miles and not another boat in sight. Suddenly a loud explosion right beside us. I thought a submarine must have exploded under us. Then I looked up and saw the contrail and the plane streaking away. A minute later we could hear the exhaust and the plane was out of sight. Very memorable.

Cool video.
When I was a kid we lived in the flight path 2 miles from Dow Air Force Base.... now Bangor International Airport. There were no regulations then and it was common to have several "BOOM"s a day that would literally shake the dishes in the cupboard. Now they have to "go up north" to play like that. Fast forward 30 years.....While up north on a fishing trip once we were startled by the sound. It took several of them before we saw a jet.... we learned we couldn't look toward the sound as there was nothing to see. When we heard the boom we'd have to look toward the other horizon & we'd just see the tail as it went out of sight.

Growing up in a very remote area of Colorado, we would hear (feel) sonic booms all the time. They would cause the whole house to shake.

We used to go to the Beach...
To watch the planes bomb the target ship in the bay...
Live ammo even, back when you could do that...

I think Rose O'Donnell must have been nearby and that poor pilot got caught up in her gravitational pull. Hope he's alright.
