Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: firetender mountainman 85

Post by nuclacoal » Fri. Feb. 27, 2015 6:01 pm

When I got my new FireTender ( stokermatic ) several years ago I was disappointed with the snap action limit switch that controlled the auger and combustion blower. It would get hot enough to out gas the painted surfaces so I would modulate the thermostat to slowly bring the bonnet up to a reasonable temp where the distribution fan could handle it. Not wanting to be married to my stove I did some heavy thinking and came up with using a thermostat that's used on electric water heaters ( lower element ). I wired this in series with the thermostat and through several fire ups was able to adjust the temp setting to a sensible shut off of the auger/combustion blower.---no over fire now. I place the thermostat on the hot air register on the top of the stove where it very rapidly can sense the temp and act accordingly
