Rob, I like that idea a whole lot ,we will be discussing & planning some changes during the coming months. Did I mention that I like the tiered pricing idea ? LOTS !!!! Now to plan & implement that in a tidy, customer friendly manner.

We will do our best to slow down the coming months so we can have more time b4 we start all over again, but that is what keeps us all going. The ever changing days into months, seasons & yrs.,best to enjoy each change as best we can ,because they surely will happen again ,whether we are ready or not.We do actually heat for more months than not. :)

Agreed.

But those same customers who feel the need to stay and talk for over an hour, cannot understand why it is taking so long to get their equipment (or vehicles) returned to them............

Have that happen all the time here. They don't realize that as I'm talking to them, I'm not working on their vehicle, am I ?????? I get more done when I can come in and keep the doors closed so it looks like I'm closed. No phone ringing and no interruptions.

Rick,i hear you & couldn't agree more, those times it is nice if my wife comes into the shop & interrupts with "did you get so& so done yet ?" That will often wake the talker up to the fact that I need to work.

Yes it is, very unusual to see a custom paint job on lawn tractors, especially one that looks good. This is a 1996 unit ,1 owner,he hopes to replace it in a yr or two with a new tractor. The deck is getting bad rusty, tractor is still in good shape with good running Kohler.

Nice shop. Much cleaner than if it were mine.

I see that Harbor Freight has a lift for tractors. Might be handy for lifting walk behind as well with a wood platform laid across.

franco, I use a MoJack to lift the front end of tractors,i have it for ? yrs now. We will get a pic of it in use sometime & post it for you. We had 2 tractors return to their owners today,1 I delivered,1 got picked up by the customer. We had 2 tractors dropped off here today + 1 push mower. Its a fast spinning circle this time of the yr for us,equipment comes & equipment goes, that is what keeps the cash flow going.

franco,as promised, a picture of our tractor lift in action. Someday I want to get a table type lift that will lift all the work up to work bench height which will eliminate most of the work down on the creeper. ~~~The grass is slowly getting green here, we have not yet heard the phrase "my grass is growing,i need my mower",BUT I figure to hear that sometime in the next 2 weeks. We keep pushing the work thru the shop, trying to keep the backlog under 2 weeks, eventually that backlog time will grow.

This MOJACK lift has been working for us 6+yrs.

.JPG | 150.7KB | 001.JPG
002.JPG

This is a safe, easy way to gain access under the tractor & or under the deck

.JPG | 124.7KB | 002.JPG
003.JPG

This is a newer tractor that i did the belt & tractor inspection without taking the deck off, blade removal & scraping the deck is easy from this point

.JPG | 132.9KB | 003.JPG
007.JPG

not lots of room to work under the deck but enough to remove blades & scrape,if deck is removed it gives enough room to change drive belts & steering shaft & steer gears.

This was the original MOJACK,they & other companies have made them now without that extra safety feature. This unit has the brake on the hand winch, the pin thru the vertical bar into the horizontal bar & the safety stands. Gives me piece of mind while working under equipment.

Better to have the shop stuffed full than empty. Ours has stuff shoehorned in...even had to take the cab off the dozer.
