Where Too Buy a Tractor Load of Bagged Coal?

nealkas,i went back to the beginning & reread the whole thread to see what I missed. Not sure if I still understand what undertone was going on, BUT,i have enjoyed following this thread,as I am sure others have too. Not everyone understands what all is involved in making a full TT load of coal happen.

Ordering a load of coal can be as simple or complicated as you make it. Generally if you talk to someone that has ordered a few loads you should get the information you need.

I got a little cranked over McGiever's post that made it seem like it is my duty to instantly noticed all requests for information and immediately reply with all I know. For one thing, I don't read everything. Another thing, I spent a lot of time and money (about $5500 per load) figuring this stuff out, I'll share it with the world at my leisure.

I have always been slow with the chineese riddles tho. I will not trouble myself trying to figure that part out. As I stated b4 ,i have enjoyed following this thread & most of the info in it.

There is plenty enough good here to balance out the other,IMHO.

Thank you rob for your info, if we can gather the money we are goin to go with it as it will save us money in the long run, that's why we burn coal! Lol we have more than enough room too store it indoors and too fit a tractor trailer on the property and we can get it unloaded.

That will be REALLY nice next February when there is 3' snow drifts everywhere. Also keeps the coal dry. Getting the $ up front is always the hard part for me.

Yes it is, I have a two car deep garage in the back that I do not use, and I also have plenty of room in my garage and my basement is fully open. I am splitting this load so it's not too bad but still a good chunk of change

AS it is Saturday and the heating season is almost over here on my mountain:

The Tractor Supply Corporation store in Ithaca had Kimmels briefly and sold out of product.

Can I get a partial load less than 22 ton order of (open mouth sewn bagged) rice coal from Kimmels
and can the bagging plant operator simply strap it in place with no shrink wrap and just cover it
with good pallet bags and do they charge a deposit on the pallets??

They use good open mouth sewn bags that do not leak coal dust.

In case you are NOT following the conversation, this is NOT an endorsement for BURGER KING, and NO you can not have it your way. All of us together ordering are merely a pimple on the ass of progress, so take no offense in my reply. Understand a company like Tractor Supply can order 100,000 tons, pay the bill and no bitching......so that is where you need to follow. It is a favor to get the benefit of coal, and the less you can do to piss off the source, the better. PEOPLE, (customers), are the issue in any retail situation, so understand that NOT becoming a problem leaves you in a good relationship with the coal community. No different for firewood, or oil of pro-pain.

I realise what you are saying, I was just wondering if I could get
strapped pallets with a pallet bag cover. Why would I want to piss
anybody off with my inquiry???

I plan on calling Kimmels and Dalmation and a few others with
the same question as I can rent a straight truck and bring 6-8 tons up at time
for gas money and day rental compared to $50 dollars a ton for freight charges
for 10 tons in bulk. I can always oil it myself with a sprayer.

I look at it this way Byrne Dairy is selling non oiled Blashack rice coal for $8.99 a bag/$450 ton
plus sales tax so..........................

The recommended retail was $360 a ton this past heating season from what I was told by relative.

Like I always say a reasonable profit is reasonable but "Obscene Profits" are nothing
but gouging the end user/consumer and an invitation to being examined by the state or the Feds.

Convicted former gas station owners are but one example for price gouging.

Perhaps Byrne Dairy sells coal in 50# bags which would = your relatives recommended retail price of $360/ton. That being said,i think the OP was asking where to buy a tractor trailer load of bagged coal,not where to go for 6 tons.

For those of you who have received TT loads of bagged, do the trailers unload the pallets in your yard or would I be required to have a forklift on site?

How much room is required for the TT? If I understood the process I might be able to tell if the truck would fit in my yard. I had a load of bulk dumped once before but now there's no room to dump there.

Independant truck drivers deliver everyday, but not coal to residences everyday...so typically, no they do not unload truck...buyer/customer does unloading.

Coal bagger is not in the trucking business, but they have a relationship with trucking business.
Can it be arranged to have driver and "stinger"? Probably.
