David, my wife and I have been enjoying the fruits of the 4 Zepher seeds you gave me. I too put a couple drops of the maple syrup in them. They are superb! Thank you soo much! We have a monster crop of sweet corn coming in. The bodacious has been fine eating so far but we are looking forward to the Silver King crop coming in about a week. How do you put away the Zepher for later? Four plants make too much to keep up with.

Scott, last yr my wife froze some of our excess squash,it was not our favorite way to eat squash !! This year she is making the excess into relish to RELISH whenever She will be doing lots of squash this way, fantastic tasting whether eating as a compliment with meat or just eating it plain. We figure this will give us an extra vegetable choice over the winter. She has been mixing cucumbers with the squash for relish as we have too many cukes to keep after.

My garden is a bit of a mess since I've been fighting a broken leg since January. My last post I was walking, but with alot of pain. Came to find out that things wern't healed like we hoped and I broke about a half dozen screws in my leg. Back on crutches for 2 more months. I'm just now getting back to walking semi-normal.
Never did get the tomatoes staked up so we have a giant mess thats going to be a real pain to dig through. With all the rain the weeds and grass took over. I've done my best to get everything dug out. For the most part everything is doing well.
I lost about half my cabbage due to all the rain. Just too wet. Some onions too, some to rot some got washed away.
First year for potatoes, they seem to be doing well. About ready to dig them up.
We have the largest Broccoli plants I have ever seen.... with the smallest heads!! pretty dissappointed about them.
Sweet corn is so-so. Some of it looks great, some of it was stunted by the rain. We should get enough to enjoy though.
I tried peanuts for the first time. Found out the rabbits love them. Not expecting to get much if any out of them.

David, sorry to hear that Lyme is forcing you to cut back on the things you enjoy. Your mention of it last summer was enough for me to take more steps to avoid tick bites. I have had great results by spraying my boots/cuffs with permethrin. I also wear tall rubber boots that fit snugly on my calf.
Looking forward to some pictures of your vegetable harvest.

With the fatigue affecting both of us,we have not taken many pics earlier,my wife took a few today,i was going to post them this evening. BUT,another one of life's events happened. We found our rat killing cat,Patch, dead on the road below our place. She is the cat with Lyme, she used to never go across the road but recently has gone on "hunting trips".She got hit coming home to eat her evening meal. It is hard to lose a cat that has been around us for 10 1/2 yrs. She died quickly,so that is the best way,no suffering for her, meantime we will cry at times when we remember her life with us. She was a very good cat overall. We had always figure she would die from the effects of Lyme.

Logs, thanks . It is hard to lose a pet, even tho we have about 12 more that we can pet & more that we can't pet but feed & care for. Each cat has its own unique personality & quirks. She will be missed !! BUT,life moves on,today my 86 yr old step-father-in-law had a mini stroke,we spent lots of time monitoring him,he recovered well, seems fine for now, according to the medical person that stopped in here.

It's that time of year when the labor of gardening is mostly bringing in the "harvest",more pics to follow.
