Finally! Scraped the cash together and picked up my new acquisition. It's in great shape with only one piece needing to be recast. The parts that I need to recast for the matching stove appear to be in nice condition. I can feel the onset of serious coin flowing. What did I get into.

Scott,

Two ? Yeah, your deep into it, now ! Congratulations and condolences ! :D

Just curious - as part of discussion with Steve (King Coal) about his project stove and the size of mag openings compared to diameter of the firebed. If you would, please, measure the diameter of the bottom of that magazine, and the diameter of the firepot ?

Do you know if the firepot ever had a liner ?

Paul

yeah, that is a HUGE magazine. this type of stove is pretty famous for them because they have such a high combustion chamber over the top of the mica doors.

the diameters will be interesting for sure.

if you can please estimate how high the magazine outlet is above the rim of the fire pot. I think they are all very nearly the same. some where in the 2-3" range.

thanks,
steve

So how much coal will those mags hold? Curious if anyone has or knows of a photo of one on fire, with the magazine in operation. With such large windows, how visible is it ? Glad to see you got your parts stove home Scott. "Keep on truckin".

The measurements for the magazine and pot were 9" for the magazine and 15.5 inches for the inside of the top of the pot.

The magazine did sit 2 3/4" above the lip of the pot.

The magazine is large. I think the better part of a forty pound bag would go in there.

going off some rough calculations of the height and volume of that magazine i'd say you are dead on, I came up with 39.95 #'s of nut fitting in there.

you could also very easily have another 40 in that fire pot which would make alot of sense when considering burn times reported by people with similar size and type stoves.

thanks for the height above the fire pot measurement by the way, the 3 of those measurement help put things into perspective.

Here it is 8 years later. Things have changed so much since then. Both stoves sit in the garage exactly where I left them. Working average of 70/week has made the time fly. Never had a chance to do this. Our plans have changed. Instead of building a new one story house, we purchased a retirement property in Florida. One story. Looks like these are not meant to be. So with a whole lot of disappointment I’m offering these up for sale. More than enough parts to make one, more than enough parts to get a couple pieces recasted for two complete mica baseburners. They seem to be hard to come by.

Hi Scott. Sorry to hear about your situation. I can feel for ya, and relate. In other than stove aspects anyway. If you're gunna retire to Fla, (the mosquito being the state bird), I guess alternate heating sources are not on the priority list. Then again, I hear sometimes the lows dip into the 50s! :o You might consider keeping one of your stoves. Seriously tho, I hope you get things ironed out. Good luck.

Thanks Joeq. I was freightrained ( t-boned) by a semi truck a couple falls ago. He. Was doing 60-65. Ran a stop sign. Really messed me up. My get up and go got up and left. Had to retire from construction work early and just do what I can do. I’d rather just go fishing. Right now I got a couple sweet baseburners and a crap ton of EFM parts that need to find a new home. Gotta get the garage cleaned out before I go.

Anybody want these baseburners? I got $1300 into the pair. Looking for $800. Any reasonable offer won’t be refused.
