AA130, The rope gasket on the front of the boiler where the blower is has a leak at the top of the plate ,can I replace the rope , with a fire still in it ! or do I have to shut her down .I have coal (ash)dust being blown out of the hole at the top of the plate When its feeding !

I would not do it.
Besides, what if you see other maintenance items needing attention with a better peek inside there.
The gasket is but a clue of what may need done inside there.
That gasket is not a rope gasket either.

Do it once and do it right. ;)

Looks like its straight forward ,did you leave the gearbox still bolted to the fan through the plate to mount the gasket and what is the torque on the bolts ? Thanks

They don't need to be real tight but I recommend you retighten them after a week of running it.

The oil will leak out of the gearbox if you leave gearbox on fan and lay fan flat. :o

Whatever you do, don't touch the fan to shaft bolts except to tighten them. The assembly is balanced.

Thanks ,seams like if I undo the bolts the plate will come off by its self and can be moved back to where I can replace the gasket in place !

Will the plate back off so I can put the gasket in place and then put back in place
