Agree Fred........ But, I don't think his stove is all that old. I don't think his foggy glass is the usual, normal wear from coal burning. Click on the picture to make it bigger. The glass around the stain is still new looking. I may be wrong, but I think it just needs a good stove glass cleaner. It almost looks like he tried cleaning with vinegar, or something, while hot.freetown fred wrote:I was thinkin KC meant REALLY on the inside as mine appears to be. I've tried everything from Rutland cleaner, razor blades to real, real fine emery on my orbital. No go. Might just be after 9 yrs, if I was really concerned new glass would be in order.

yes, the foggy looking dirt is on the inside of the glass and it just needs a cleaning now while cool.oliver power wrote:Agree Fred........ But, I don't think his stove is all that old. take the door off the stove and work on it flat.
this season take the door off every couple weeks, cover the opening with foil, wait for the glass to cool and clean it.
the rutland stuff is pretty easy, wipe on, wipe off.

Yeah, unfortunately when it fogs up in the glass, there's no way to get rid of it. If its surface grunge sometimes you can scrape it all off / clean it off. But the fog really never goes away.

I have 6 years on my glass and it is as clean today as it was new, I use a wad of wet paper towel (warm water) then a wad of damp paper towel on hot glass whenever I see the glass starting to look bad, once a week maybe twice a week. Freetown can attest to what my glass looks like. I believe the steam is what cleans best and clean gloves are a must not your black loading gloves. Years ago I tried all sorts of cleaners and nothing works like water.
