i have bulk coal. I bought an el-cheapo shop vac 6 gallon for $40. I use the shop vac to fill the stove, its easy. suck the coal up take the vac head off empty out the vacuum contents into the hopper. quick and easy. I don't have to worry about reaching the bottom of the barrel either.

NICE!

There are all kinds of variations to that idea. Search "Coal Vac" in the search bar at the upper right of the page. There is more than one way to do this, I like yours, it's clean and simple. With the added benefit of cleaning out all the fines from your coal before it gets in your stove.
