- Stoker Coal Boiler: Keystoker 90
This is what I intend on puting on my keystoker... I have several of them thru out the house.. (computer work station, CCTV systm, quadraFire pellet stove)
It will with out a doubt give you a few hours of run time while you get the generator out and setup... (assuming you loose power frequently )
its A cyberpower brand UPS
just select the size of the one for your application.. depending on draw

well guys ive been lit for 8 days straight now, burning for DHW, and had two heat calls yesterday morning, so right now I would of thought would be the time that my dump zone would be working, it has only dumped twice since ive been lit and for about 45 seconds each, and this was shortly after the combustion fan was running then shut off, other than that the temps have not gone over 185, the 6006 is set at 170. so should I even worry about getting some type of safety zone in for when I loose power? I am just worried about my pex failing, I think that could see temps of 210 without much worry, remind you my zones are completely open and are thermosyphoning which is why I have been staying pretty even with my temps I think.

I think I will when I get a couple hours and get a fresh full load in, but of coarse when it gets COLD the thermosyphoning will change too won't it. The duct work will pull harder.

About zone valves, they are prone to getting stuck when not used much. I suppose water conditions plays a big part in this.

I have that exact unit running my computer and a few other things. It's been through a few outages & performed pretty well. Good enough to get my computer stuff finished, so I can shut it down properly, and go out and hook the gen up.Burning2nd wrote:

I'd probably want at least double this unit's size for stoker duty, however. The longer it can run without anyone around, the better.
Drawing just 72 Watts, it only gives me about a half hour, if that .. even though the display says it's good for an hour or more.

alright, so the zone valve will possibly be stuck closed because it will rarely get used, am I better off too mount a radiator somewhere and hook up a taco 007 to a UPS and when the power fails just run that pump keeping the boiler from over heating?

alright so for those following, I plumbed in the gravity dump zone for no electricity and it does not work, refer to this thread for the info.
Power Outage Safety Zone, Hand Fed Boiler
so im back to this, a UPS set up so that it will keep things under control, I just need to power my pump at .75 amps, and modine at 1.3 amps. while watching my boiler dump, it only runs the dump zone for about a minute, maybe minute and a half. the modine is a great dump zone and pulls the water temp down fast. so I would say that a two hour run time would be the most needed, thats for if im away from home for say 16 hours or so.

would that work? I just have to get a couple deep cycle agm batteries?
