Still not burning in central New Hampshire. Got down to 28 last night, up to 64 today. Oil furnace kicked on once or twice last night, keeping it at a nice 70 degrees. Naturally heated up today to 72 inside. Still 72 inside at 7pm.

Fired up the Kaa-2 yesterday. It simply idles away. That is, unless a call for heat. Once thermostat is satisfied, it goes back to idle. No over heating the house. One can hardly complain.

Never figured it out too close. Keeps the ramp 1.5-2 inches with no calls for heat. I run the time a little different- one pin ever 6 minutes. 5 pins an hour. Have not moved the red nut summer or winter in years. Can run that way all summer. Bet it is about 15 lbs. a day or more depending on hot water usage and heat calls. Been as low as 41 degrees so far. House stats at 70 and Momma and the kids are not complaining!ShawnTRD wrote:Any idea what you're burning a day?Dirty Steve wrote:Been running for a week. Already dumped an ash pan.

We have had several frosty mornings here , I'll use the heat pump for a couple more weeks and then fire up the coal boiler , use the oil boiler for dhw during summer .I just filled up the oil tank , price was $ 2.03 per gal., not bad as I paid $ 3.52 per gal. 2 years ago.
I fired up on Oct 1st. Was out in the South West for the month of September..95 deg...nasty...on the hard earth and road? who knows ..over 100 deg F I bet. Nice to be back to New England..to see trees and water..
Nice to only have to tend the stove every 2 days or so in these mild temps.... come winter it will be dump coal/dump ash..and fight the snow to get to the ash pile. Ha... sign of things to come...

Just hooked up my circulation pump, and turned up the aquastat to 145, 180. So now the heat can be turned on

Well before I left for work last night I turned the aquastat back down but keep the circulation pump going. Just got home and the boiler was down to 100 degrees. So back to 140, 160

Mines on and off but I'm on oil at the moment. Still pretty warm during the day. Also the old oil burner is dying so I want to get a few last uses. In a week the Yukon will arrive. I need to pull the old unit, pour a pad, then have my HVAC guy get it installed. Meanwhile I am getting things stocked up but I have more than enough hardwood to get me through the winter.
