Incredible competence and this man has what it takes.

That's it, I'm exhausted just from watching. I'm going to throw another bucket of coal in the stove and go to DD for a latte.

I agree. And I think I am doing a lot when I take 10 used Balschak bags to the old UAE mine and refill them with bulk pea coal, unload them from the car and pour them into my one ton bin!!!! toothy

How much money does he have tied up in equipment just so he can burn "free" wood?

A lotta cool tooyls for sure. That lake has to be real calm for the return trip loaded down with wood! Looked like it was an all day affair...he was losing light as he drove away.

So was that a weeks worth of wood for him....is he headed out again next weekend for another load? I watched with the sound off so I didn't hear any additional info than the screen text.

That must have been 3 or 4 trips out to the island to fill that bucket at the end.

:D

Well spotted Carnage. He starts with a red jacket and ends with a blue. In one shot the trailer tires are bald and then they are nearly new. This is a very well compiled video of many trips to fill that bucket and that means it's an even c rappier job to collect that wood as it is many days work. These Vikings are tough.

Ive watched this before! I think he is probably enjoying going out with his dog for the day! I do something like this with a old bolens tractor and a lawn cart! Yes it is a slow process, one cart at a time. It allows me to keep small trails through my property and gather trees that have fallen. I then put the cut wood into my truck and haul 3 mile back home to split.
I also burn coal so im not a slave to the boiler. I just like to smell wood burning around the house!
Im only 32 and I just like to do some things the hard way, its probably good for me anyways.

There is an aerosol for that, I still vote for DD and latte. At 32 a day in the woods with your dog sounds great ... enjoy..

There is an old logging saying:

"I love cutting wood...when I don't have too."

When it come to maintaining my woodlot, doing some logging, cutting logs for my own barn, and yes even firewood, I rather enjoy my little ole Kubota tractor and a Farmi Winch. But there have been days in my past where I HAD to get a load of wood out for the money, and it did not matter if it was with a bulldozer, tractor or skidder; it SUCKED!

Just like some people hunt deer "just to get out in the woods", for this guy firewood is just an excuse to get out in the woods and do a little low impact forestry. Myself, I say good for him.

Just a little ole 1999 2500 series Kubota (MFWD)

It is small but does well in the woods. It is no skidder of course, but I like how it skirts around trees and with 150 feet of cable, can really pull trees from a ways off and do so right between two other trees. I have cut a surprising amount of wood with it actually.

Here it is pulling an 850 John Deere out of the mud. ;)

I can't believe I spend 30 minutes watching 6 tons get poured in the basement when I could spend 100s of hours and 10s of thousands of dollars doing that instead... What am I thinking???
