- Hand Fed Coal Stove: Vigilant
Well I just got my vigilant hand fired stove going for the season, keeping my draft way down to keep it a little cooler in the house. Last year I burned fast and hot and the whole house, 1 story 1200 sqft stove in basement, was 78*, now I like it warm, but that was a little much for me. Now we are at about 68-71 and thats just about perfect. I picked up 3400lbs last week from Direnzo coal, in pottsville, rainy day so had to let it dry for a little, very happy with it so far, and easy company to work with.

Good to hear from you Mackd, my Vig is sitting and waiting for mothah wintah! as the basement stove is keeping us in the 70's right now. Not a big fan of sub zero but it's nice knowing we're ready for it

I'm on target to burn about 350 to perhaps 400 lbs. less coal this November vs. last November. I'm only burning about 2/3 as much coal due to the overall warmer weather.
