Looking for opinions on reading coal.
I have been burning Cornwall coal and my furnace does well on it my local dealer has switched to reading. I bought a pallet of reading a few years ago when I could not get Cornwall and it had so many fines in it that I did not like it.
Has this changed at all?
Anyone know how it compares to Cornwall?

Last year I burned 4 ton of Reading nut, & same thing, full of fines. There were many complaints here about their bagged nut. To the best of my knowledge the company is aware. Whether it has changed, this year, I don't know, as I went back to Blaschak.

Had some Reading nut (bagged) last year. There was at least 5 lbs of fines per bag. While the coal itself was nicely sized and burned well the shear amount of fines was disturbing. Myself, I will stay away from Reading if at all possible. I even emailed Reading telling them about the issue and surprise surprise, there was no response from them.

I have 10 bags of it. From what I have seen on here, plus the price, plus the dealer is a prick, I probably won't buy it again.

The Reading I buy is privately bagged. No dust and very few fines, almost nothing, completely dry, so it depends on how it is handled and who bags it. Excellent coal.

I burnt Reading bagged for two years.
The pea was excellent. The nut was terrible. Lots of fines and very inconsistent sizing.

I burnt some bagged pea last year and the bags I got had so much water in them that they made a mess of my boiler room floor. I understand the reason for some water in bagged coal but this was way too much to deal with as a homeowner. I usually burn Blaschak and the water levels in the bag are reasonable. I was happy when I had finished burning the last bag of Reading and made sure I didn't get any more last year and this year.

A few seasons ago I was burning Blashack (sp?) and went and burned 1 ton ... the wifey liked it and did not want to go back.
She said it burned "better". Wifey is crazy of course. With Reading you get some wood but that burns.
Burned about 14 tons of the Reading, burning it right now.

I was getting really nice bagged coal from Eastern Ice (I think it's actually Reading...?), and then I got this! Very disappointing...but it burns in my hand fed.
