Nice find J.
This Kimmels is working out nicely...My Blazchek dealer told me Reading is ok and to stay away from Kimmels..so was another Blazchek dealer nearby..said Kimmels got the left overs from Blazchek... Far from it...I burnt Blazchek for years and this Kimmels is good stuff..burning it 24/7 since Oct 1st. Down into the teens recently here... Some bags were wet when I first got them in Sept but seemed to have dried out in the pile outside. A lot less fines if that means something..
Also TSC says they can order more but will take 2 weeks. I hope they don't drop this... anyone know how long they have been carrying Coal ...My local new dealer just started this summer. I know others had it summer of 2014.

I like the Kimmels better than my bagged Blaschak, at least so far. My results have been the opposite of many here. Im getting longer more complete burns, with the ash being very light in weight, so it must be burning more completely. My pails of ash seem to be half the weight of before. Maybe the next pallet wont be as good but Im loving this one. Your results may vary

I like the Kimmels , I got 2 ton last year bagged nut. Still have about 3/4 ton left . I like that the pieces are bigger and more consistence in size plus few fines. The Blashak I had last year was loaded with fines. I burning Lehigh this year , I like it best so far. Kimmels lights faster and is good for getting a weak fire goin in the Chubby.

As a very new coal burner I found the kimmels to be very easy to get going and to maintain. Yes some was wet, I put it in a tote prior to burning, a bit more work but it seems effective. I have Blashak available also, and will try it but have no experience with it.
From what I see, I have two good sources of coal available.
If you want TSC to keep stocking it, you need to leave feedback on their website to show them you like it and want them to maintain it

So what exactly is a "girly stove"? I burn nut but right now I am burning liquid Dinos.freetown fred wrote:What size you using DJ? I've always used BLASCHAK w/ nary a problem--nut/stove mix bulk. Of course I don't have one of them thar girly kinda stoves!

FF, DJ has to shovel coal into his furnace just like you do for your stove. The biggest difference is that your fan is on the ceiling,DJ's is on his furnace, his fan is controlled by a t-stat,your fan is controlled by a switch on the wall.Girly stove I think you are just getting too nit-picky with others heating choice. Wait till Sherrick jumps you for having such a modern stove (girly stove )

Does it make noise & require electricity?

YEP. Your ceiling fan uses electric, but is not a requirement for heating with your stove, his furnace fan is a requirement. So using Kimmels in your stove won't do diddly, where as for DJ, Kimmels would be beneficial if he needs to restart his furnace after an extended power outage.freetown fred wrote:Does it make noise & require electricity?

Wow, I put a full 40 pound bag of nut in last night, and I'm here to tell ya, I'm really impressed with this Kimmel's coal. It's been mid 40's last night then mid 50's today so I had to run her down low and slow. I just came down to tend the furnace (24 hour burn schedule) and found a nice even glow under the top most layer across the entire fuel bed. I opened the ash door to rev it up before shaking and in less than 10 minutes it was raging with only -.04 draft pulling.
The coal is damp and it's got some fines but man, it WANTS to burn like right now, after shake and load.
Good stuff!

Actually no, it will burn fine without the blower, the heat easily feeds up into the house, in fact when I run coal my blower rarely kicks on.freetown fred wrote:Does it make noise & require electricity?
